  1. Tim says:

As a general matter, the pictures used in the cells (with the exception of objective/objective and subjective/objective) appear to show the menacing side of guns as opposed to the non-threatening side. She tends to show guns in places we don’t want them such as concealed in the someone’s pocket, aimed at the viewer, and in the hands of a robber or criminal. Scare tactics don’t work as well when defending something that is, in and of itself, a scare tactic. Basically, all these posters argue is that its your right to shoot someone, without even touching on the upsides of using guns for sport in such instances as hunting or target practice. Additionally, many of the idiosyncratic pics aren’t that idiosyncratic, many being actually quite poignant

  2. Sofia says:

What topic has your classmate chosen to defend?
    Second Amendment of the Constitution

Do any of the cells in the matrix make you agree more with your classmate? What about less?
Personally I don’t agree with any of them, but with the one that I could agree a bit could be the 3rd box, because yes, criminals don’t follow laws. However, I don’t see the relationship with this and guns.
I disagree with all of them because it’s my personal opinion that people should not own guns.

Has your classmate misplaced either text or image content in the matrix? If so, what effect does that have.
For the first row of cells, this should have been an objective image, one which does not convey an opinion, and I feel like all of these images are biased towards the opinion of keeping guns.
For the 2nd row of cells, the first image is subjective, but the 5th and 6th box is not: they are not images that show one’s opinion about the matter. (What is the meaning of the man with orange hair?)
And the 8th cell is not idiosyncratic, since there is no “twist” to it.

As for the text, 4th and 7th are not objective, they are giving an opinion.

Would another combination of text and image from this matrix make a more compelling argument for the chosen cause?

For objective images, maybe using a picture of the constitution without the gun. Or pictures of only guns.

Do you have any other feedback to share?
    Guns don’t save lives
